CAS Grant Funding Makes Impact on Safety
In January of 2008, CAS initiated a safety grant program designed to
assist clients in purchasing items that improve workplace safety. Eighteen
months later, more than 50 grants have been awarded to CAS clients.
CAS plans to continue this program into 2010, with additional funding
becoming available in January of next year.
At the Region 19 Education Service Center in El Paso, CAS funding was
used to install a roof safety ladder and a non-slip coating on the floors
of walk-in freezers. This surface provides much better footing for
employees as they enter the freezers.
Avoyelles Parish School Board in Louisiana received money to purchase
stepladders, dollies, gloves, and goggles for their staff to use when
storing, transporting and preparing food.
“We appreciate the contribution that CAS has made to our food
service safety program,” said Mary Bonnette, Risk Manager at Avoyelles.
